KATHMANDU: Tulsi Ram Ghimire of Butwal has won the Alba Ratna award established by Morang Auto Works (MAW) — the sole distributor of Yamaha motorcycles in Nepal.

The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000 cash and a trophy and is meant to be presented to a hero of Nepali society who works for society without selfishness. The award was handed over to Ghimire by Rupandehi chief district officer Durga Prasad Pokhrel amid a function in Butwal today.

The winner was chosen by a selection committee from Kantipur Publications. According to MAW, Alba Ratna is a year-long campaign though which such Alba Ratnas will be chosen every month. Alba is an economical bike in the 106cc segment, and a favorite among people who are price-conscious.
