An interesting case

KATHMANDU: The OAG audit report of fiscal 2016-17 has highlighted numerous ways in which government funds are embezzled.

The report has presented an interesting example of Baglung District Court’s approval to install an elevator for seven storeys in a three-storey building of the district court. “The division office of the Urban Development and Building Construction approved the design of a three-storey building.

However, in the construction contract with the contractor, the court agreed to install an elevator for seven storeys at a cost of Rs 6.5 million. This mismatch needs to be corrected,” states the OAG report.
