KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Chandika Prasad Bhatta as the executive director of the SEZ

Development Committee.

The selection committee formed under the chairmanship of Member of National Planning Commission Swarnim Wagle comprising Industry Secretary Jay Mukund Khanal and former industry secretary Pratap Kumar Pathak had recommended three names — Bhatta, Binod Aryal and Prem Singh — for the post to the Cabinet. The Cabinet meeting, on Friday, appointed Bhatta as the ED of SEZ Development Committee.

The Wagle-led committee had initiated the selection process on January 23 this year. Bhatta is an under-secretary level bureaucrat of Nepal government and is associated with the Department of Mines and Geology. He had also served as managing director of Nepal Oil Corporation earlier.
