Bhujung festival soon

Kathmandu, March 3:

Locals of Bhujung VDC in Lamjung district have come up with a noble idea of promoting rural tourism. They are organising Bhujung Festival 2008 from March 13 to 15 in order to preserve cultural and natural heritage sites of Bhujung VDC.

“The proposed festival is first of its kind with local initiative to promote rural tourism and publicise other potentials as well as preserve cultural and natural heritage,” said Narayan Gurung, coordinator of the event.

According to him, Bhujung is a unique VDC having all nine wards within a single village, where Gurung community is in majority. The village lies at an altitude of 1600m at northwest from Lamjung district headquarters Besisahar. The village lies along the way of recently developed Gurung Heritage Trail that connects famous tourist destinations like Ghalegaon, Ghanpokhara, Pasgaon, Begnas Lake and Besisahar.

Highlighting the major features of the festival, Gurung said that visitors would get first hand information during the festival on rich cultural and natural heritage sites.
