Kathmandu, October 31

Bishnu Bhai Shrestha has been appointed as the president of Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN). He was serving as the senior-vice president of the association.

The executive committee meeting of FCAN held today unanimously appointed Shrestha to the top post of FCAN.

The presidential post in FCAN had been vacant since October 9 after then FCAN president Sarad Kumar Gauchan was shot dead in the Capital by an unidentified group.

The meeting also decided to hold 20th annual general meeting of FCAN within mid-March.

Assuming his office as FCAN President today, Shrestha said he would work for betterment of all contractors and coordinate with the government to improve situation of doing business in Nepal.

Citing that the government is yet to identify murderers of Gauchan and take necessary action against them, Shrestha also announced that FCAN would soon launch series of protest programmes to pressurise the government. “The inability of the government to identify and punish the murderers of Gauchan on time will affect the business environment and confidence of businessmen. We will soon launch a series of protests,” he said.
