New SBI counter

KATHMANDU: Nepal SBI Bank Ltd has opened an extension counter within the Consulate General of India at Shreepur in Birgunj, says a press statement. Ambassador of India to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee inaugurated the counter. Nepal SBI Bank is also operating its extension counters within the embassy of India premises in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dharan, says the statement. — HNS

Rs 5,000 note in Pak

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is to introduce new currency notes of Rs 5,000 denomination shortly. State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Shamshad Akhtar Thursday called on President Pervez Musharraf and presented to him prototypes of the new Rs 5,000 and Rs 10 denomination currency notes. — AP
