KATHMANDU: Non-resident Nepali Association Germany expresses deep sorrows over the losses of lives and destruction of the public and private properties during the current movement, states a press release. Dairy business hit
YAMPA: Farmers in Bandipur VDC-8, Yamphatar of Tanahu District are hit hard by the current situation. They used to earn more than Rs 6 million every year by selling and distributing milk. Some 25-farmer families in the VDC have taken to the commercial cattle rearing. However, the farmers are worried at present, as they have not been able to sell milk. — RSS
Oil worries for B’desh
DHAKA: The Bangladesh finance minister says rising oil prices are causing him sleepless nights and have become a national problem threatening the economy of the impoverished nation. “It is a national problem. We have to find out a way which is less painful for people and least harmful for the economy,” the BSS news agency said. The minister was so concerned over the problem and ‘losing sleep over what will happen if price jumps to $100.’ — AFP
Public finances drop
LONDON: Britain’s public finances notched up a record deficit in March. The public sector net cash requirement, the public sector’s need to raise cash, showed a deficit of $28.724 billion in March. That compared with a deficit in February and was worse than analysts’ forecasts. Public sector net borrowing, the government’s preferred measure of the public sector finances, rose in March. — AFP
Taiwan export orders
TAIPEI: Taiwan’s export orders in March rose by 23.1 per cent from February, to a record high in a reflection of seasonal factors. Export orders in March totalled $24.94 billion, compared with $20.26 billion in February. The March figure represents a 19.33 per cent increase year-on-year. Export orders in April and the second quarter to June are anticipated to rise by double digits. — AFP
