SCBNL adds ATM
KATHMANDU: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd (SCBNL) has installed one more 24 hour Automated Teller Machine at th B P Koirala Institute of Health and Sciencesat Dharan (BPKIHS).The inauguration was done by prof Dr Loke Bikram Thapa, vice-chancellor of BPKIHS. With this ATM, the Bank now has 12 ATMs in operation in the country, six in Kathmandu, three in Pokhara, two in Lalitpur and one in Dharan. —HNS
Budget approval
PARBAT: The 14th District Council of Parbar District Development Committee (DDC) has approved a total budget of around Rs 810 million for the coming fiscal year. The proposed budget is said to have given first priority to planning and projects approved by the village council, unit and regional workshop, according to the DDC Office. Inaugurating the Council Dhawalagiri Zone Administrator Ram Ji Bishta said that all should work for the nation and nationality from where they stand. The elderly member of DDC Parbat Nil Bahadur Gurung, presided over the council. —RSS
Google to pay 90m
SAN FRANCISCO: Google will pay up to $90 million to settle claims that it billed advertisers for ads that were subjected to “click fraud”, said the Internet search company. The lawsuit filed last year against Google and other search engines threw a spotlight on the ruse in which repeated clicking on “pay-per-click” ads generated false sales leads, driving up costs for advertisers while increasing revenues for websites.—DPA
US firm in Vietnam
HANOI: A Vietnamese-Russian oil company has chosen US energy services firm McDermott International Inc. to build a 298 km offshore gas pipeline, company officials said on Friday. Joint venture Vietsovpetro has awarded the $60 million contract to the Houston, Texas-based company, said Pham Thu Ha, an official in the oil and gas section of Vietnam’s state oil company PetroVietnam.—AFP
