Silk farming booms

DHADING: Farmers in Dhading district have earned a handsome sum of Rs 1.5 million per year by producing 8.43 metric tonnes of larva of silk worms annually. The Kimbu plantation, which was first taken up on five hectares of land 15 years ago, has been extended to 213 hectares of land. Presently, Kimbu plants are being cultivated in such pocket areas of Nalang, Salang, Kumpur, Birani, Khari, Sangkosh and Jyamrung VDCs while it is also being cultivated in Thakre, Bhumsthan, Nilkantha, Ri, Salyatar, Chhatredeurali and Goganpani VDCs. — RSS

Drug traders meet

DAMAK: The seventh annual convention of Nepal Drugs Entrepreneurs’ Association, Mechi zonal committee began here yesterday. At the gathering, inaugurated by the central president Paras Mani Dhakal, different individuals, including supervisor of the department of drugs administration, Ganesh Tamang spoke on different aspects of drugs management in Nepal. Participated by 226 entrepreneurs from different districts of the zone, the gathering will choose a new leadership for the committee for next three years. — RSS

Goods confiscated

LAHAN: A patrolling team of Royal Nepal Army (RNA) confiscated clothing and other materials worth about Rs 100,000 from Kushaha VDC, Saptari on Monday evening. The materials brought in from India avoiding tax were recovered from a deserted cottage based on a tip from a local, according to RNA district office. — RSS
