New Sitaram butter pack
KATHMANDU: Sitaram Gokul Milks, a subsidiary of Kedia Organisation, has launched butter in a new attractive packaging. The new product is made from fresh milk, using modern technology. The product is hygienic as well as fresh, which can be consumed anytime, says a company press release. The product is available in 100gm and 1 kg packs. The company plans to introduce more diary products in future. — HNS
FNCCI, SAARC hold talks
KATHMANDU: A FNCCI delegation led by its president Binod Bahadur Shrestha and vice-president Hulas Chand Golchha paid a courtesy call on secretary general of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Chenkyab Dorjee at the SAARC secretariat yesterday. During the meeting, various issues related to business promotion, investment, tourism and economic ties between the South Asian countries were discussed. They also discussed implementation of South Asian Free Trade Area agreement in the region. — HNS
CBS survey made public
DHANGADHI: The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kathmandu, made public a regional level Nepal Living Standard Survey-2005, here yesterday. Data were collected on population, housing, employment, migration, consumption, education, health and agriculture during one year, ending in 2004 April under the initiative of the World Bnk and the British Department for International Development (DfID). National level results were also published a month ago. — RSS
Carpet industry in crisis
BHOJPUR: Local hand-woven carpet industries in Bhojpur district are on the verge of closure due to lack of raw materials. Necessary raw materials have not been coming and the industry has been dependant on local wool, according to Bhojpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Gurung and Tamang people have been leaving for foreign countries as their ancestral occupation faces crisis, said Harka Gurung of Lekharka VDC. More than 30 Radi-Pakhi and 10 carpet industries are said to be in crisis. — RSS
Paper factory helps people
RUKUM: Local people have benefited from the hand-made paper industry set up at Pokhara village development committee of Rukum district. Some 30 persons have got employment in the industry. Paper produced in the industry is taken to different parts like Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Pokhara and Biratnagar for selling. — RSS
Scarcity of kerosene felt
SURKHET: There is a stark scarcity of kerosene in Dailekh, one of the remote districts in mid-west region, following a breakdown in kerosene supply. Nepal Oil Corporation, Surkhet has not yet made available kerosene as per quotas allotted by the government for the district, said Rshishi Kesh Niraula, chief district officer. Efforts are being made for making available kerosene at the earliest, he said.—RSS
