CFCL holds 8th AGM

KATHMANDU: The eight annual general meeting (AGM) of Central Finance Company Ltd (CFCL) was held on Sunday in the capital. Addressing the AGM, Rojaj Man Shrestha, managing director of CFCL said that the company has been able to increase its profit by 68.13 per cent in the current fiscal year as compared to the last year. The AGM also decided to distribute 20 per cent bonus share to the shareholders. — HNS

FNCSI team meets Bista

KATHMANDU: A delegation led by Aang Dendi Sherpa, president of Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) met Kirtinidhi Bista, minister for Industry Commerce and Supply on Tuesday. The delegation submitted a 25-point suggestion to the minister for the promotion and development of small and cottage industries and urged for the allocation of budget for conducting skill training as already approved by the government. — HNS

Bio-gas becomes popular

BAGLUNG: Farmers of Bhimapokhara VDC have started generating electricity by setting up bio-gas plants. Some 80 households of ward no 6 and 7 of the VDC have been benefited from the bio-gas. The power is used in lighting electric bulbs, which is cheaper and more healthier than kerosene lamps. — RSS

Lanka posts trade deficit

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s trade deficit rose to a record $2.22 billion in 2004, driven by higher costs for imported oil. Exports increased by 12 per cent in 2004 while imports jumped by 20 per cent to $7.97 billion, including $372 million more in oil imports. — AFP

B’desh economy grows

DHAKA: Bangladesh’s economy has recovered from devastating floods last summer and is poised for higher growth in the second half of the financial year to June. The central bank said in its latest quarterly report that the economy has rebounded from floods which submerged large areas of the low-lying delta nation for weeks last July and August. - AFP
