Strike at Hotel Himalaya:

LALITPUR: Simmering discontent among workers in Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur boiled over this morning and almost all employees left the hotel premises, leaving the handful of guests helpless, in protest against the continuing apathy of the management. Hotel employees have been asking for revised pay and improved service conditions for many months now. A meeting between the hotel employees’ union and the management was held in the morning which failed to resolve the dispute. — HNS

Sarita to represent NLIC:

KATHMANDU: Nepal Life Insurance Company (NLIC) has appointed cine actress Sarita Lamichhane as the brand ambassador of the company to launch its new campaign ‘ NLIC: The Happiness of Life.’ NLIC is one of the pioneer insurance companies in Nepal. Ginger crop lacks market:

DANG: Ginger farmers in Dang are worried after their produce could not be exported to India. Loharpani, Syuja, Sagha, Kavreo, Hansipur and other VDCs in Dang are famous for ginger production. Grown on 275 hectares, ginger production in the fiscal year 2003-04 was 3,436 metric tonnes. — RSS

Japan, China trade rises:

TOKYO: Japan’s trade with China is to top $190 billion in 2005 to set a record for the seventh year, with both imports and exports growing steadily. In 2004, bilateral trade rose by 26.9 per cent to $168 billion. — AFP
