Regional seminar held:

KATHMANDU: A two-day long central regional budget making seminar was organised by Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC) here on Friday. The seminar highlighted on a locally suitable modern and scientific agro system, cultivation based on small and big irrigation and horticulture based on geographical feasibility, poultry and fishery and agriculture research. Discussions at the seminar were concentrated on the agricultural aspect mentioned in the 21-point programme released by the first meeting of the cabinet held under the chairmanship of King Gyanendra. — RSS

Aviation policy discussed:

KATHMANDU: An interaction programme was organised here on Saturday to discussion on the final draft of the proposed Aviation Policy-2061. According to the concerned ministry, ex-secretaries, the high officials, the Nepal-based representative of the board of airlines, the representatives of Air Service Operators’ Association of Nepal took part in the programme. — RSS

Floriculture blooms:

ILAM: Farmers in east Ilam have taken up floriculture commercially. Previously, they depended on farming of cash corps only. The majority farmers of Shreeantu, Samalbung, Pashupati Nagar and Gorkhe VDC have benefitted from the commercial farming of the flowers. About 200 households of Gorkhe VDC have taken to floriculture with the help of Everest Floriculture and Production Co-operatives. — RSS

Goat keeping popular:

URLABARI: Farmers in Morang have taken to commercial goat keeping. 300 families of Urlabari, Rajghat, Pathari, Shanischare, Hasandah, Amardaha, Itahara, Sijuwa, Jhakriya, Mahadeva, Bardanga and Govindapur VDCs have started goat keeping. NGOs and district livestock services office have been encouraging them. — RSS
