CNI signs pacts in B’desh

KATHMANDU: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has signed agreements with Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Bangladesh to promote bilateral trade, investment and tourism. The 11-member CNI delegation led by its president Binod Kumar Chaudhary had participated in the international conference organised by International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh from January 17-18 in Dhaka.

Fiero F2 in Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR: Mahavir Automobiles, Biratnagar, has launched Fiero F2 motorcycle, from the stable of TVS Motor Company, on Monday. The company organised a rally with these motorcycles on Monday before launching it. Mahesh Sharma, chief of Mahavir Automobiles, said that the Fiero F2 is a four-stroke bike with 150 cc capacity and a mileage of 50 km per litre. The price of the bike with drum brakes is Rs 1,18,080 and Rs 1,35,000 with disc brakes, Sharma informed.

Rs 7b revenue collected

BIRGUNJ: Birgunj customs office has collected revenues worth Rs 7.407 billion during the first six months of the current fiscal. The amount is higher by 19 per cent in comparison to the same period in 2002-03. The collected amount is higher by 117 per cent in comparison with the targeted amount for the same duration, stated the customs office. The office collected Rs 1.34 billion during the month of December alone. RSS

Sitoula bags PhD degree

KATHMANDU: The University of Delhi has conferred the degree of Doctorate of Philosophy in Management to Om K Sitoula. Dr Sitoula had undertaken his study on Labour Management Cooperation at the Faculty of Management Studies of the University, according to a press release issued today. Dr Sitoula belongs to Terhathum district. After his studies on Masters in Economics and Bachelor of Law from Tribhuvan University, Dr Sitoula pursued his studies of Masters in Business Administration from Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) in India.

Tourist arrivals increase

BANDIPUR: The number of tourists visiting Bandipur has increased significantly after the celebration of Bandipur festival a few months ago. The number of foreign tourists including Germans, American and Australian visiting the area is up and about 16 tourists visit the area every day, according to the headmaster of Bhanu Secondary School Gobardhan Bhattarai. The number of people coming from various parts of the country has also significantly increased. Bandipur is a beautiful place situated in Tanahun district. RSS

White sugar manufactured

NAWALPARASI: The state-run Lumbini Sugar Factory Ltd (LSF) situated at Sunwal VDC of Nawalparasi district so far has manufactured 30,630 quintals of white crude sugar this season by crushing a total of 378,900 quintals of sugarcane. The factory has received a quota for manufacturing only 6,000 quintals of sugar of international quality, while it had exported 33,000 quintals sugar to Europe last year through National Trading Ltd. As per received quota, the factory so far has produced 2,000 quintals of sugar of international quality, the factory source said.
