Shanghai World Expo

KATHMANDU: A team of six Chinese representatives led by director general of the bureau of Shanghai World Expo coordination, Huang Jianzhi, is on a Nepal tour from November 7 to 10. Nepal is preparing Nepal Mandap to exibit it in the world expo to reflect the effects of rapidly expanding urbanization trend on its environment, tradition and culture. The Nepal Mandap has been conceptualized and is being developed by Implementing Experts Group. The Mandap is 3,600 metres long, centralizing Bauddha stupa with Nepali traditional art and craft on its periphery. — HNS

Premier’s new scheme

KATHMANDU: Premier Finance Company Limited has brought Bal Balika & Mahila Muddati Khata giving 11 per cent interest per annum. This scheme has the facility of interest lumpsum on a three-monthly basis. The other is Premier Ladder where customers will get interest proportional to the amount saved. The more they deposit in Premier Ladder, the more interest they will get. — HNS

KIST in Tulsipur

KATHMANDU: Kist Bank Ltd on Monday started its banking operations at Tulsipur of Dang district. According to a press statement, it is the 40th branch office of the bank. The bank is planning to establish 50 branch offices within the present fiscal year and it will start its banking services at Gongabu in Kathmandu and in Hetauda of Makwanpur. —HNS

Jailbirds in dire straits

GULMI: Non-release of allowance to prisoners due to parliament’s failure to pass the budget has the Gulmi district jailor running the prison by selling goods made by prisoners. Jailor Krishna Prasad Adhikari said the prison is managing from the income generated by selling goods prepared by the 37 inmates. — RSS
