Nepali woman saved

QATAR: A Nepali woman who was cheated by a manpower agent has been rescued with the help of the Nepali embassy based in Doha. Labour attaché Parbati Aryal said

the Nepali worker who refused to reveal her name landed in Dubai from Kathmandu on December 16. Quoting the victim, Aryal said she had paid Rs 250,000 to the agent on assurance of a job at Highland Hotel. She was mistreated at the hotel, the official said, adding that they rescued her acting on complaints. Efforts are underway to send her home at the earliest, Aryal said.

Herbs destroyed

RASUWA: Langtang National Park officials destroyed Jibanti, a herb species having medicinal properties. Chief conservation officer Ram Chandra Kandel said 59 sacks of Jibanti and 5 sacks of Jhau were seized while they were being transported to Tibet illegally.

Far-West trade fair

DHANGADHI: The Far-West Mahotsav saw trading worth Rs 15 million during 10 days. Kailali Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) general secretary Mohan Raj Sharma said Rs 2 million alone was collected from ticket sales. Nearly 300,000 people visited the fair.
