FNCCI, army meet
KATHMANDU: An interaction on the economy of the country and the role of private sector in the development of business and industries was held between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and army cadres on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, FNCCI president Kush Kumar Joshi stressed on the importance of private sector in the promotion of employment opportunities and capital utilization for the development of the country. — HNS
GBL in Narayangarh
KATHMANDU: Global Bank Ltd inaugurated its 12th branch at Narayangarh on Thursday. With its branch offices at Kantipath, New Road, Bouddha, Gyaneshwor and Kirtipur in Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, Baglung, Lahan, Biratnagar, Birgunj and Butwal, it is planning to establish four more branches soon, according to a press statement. — HNS
FCAN demand
KATHMANDU: Yakchya Dhoj Karki, president of the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN), during a meet with National Planning Commission (NPC) vice-chairman Prof Dr Gunanidhi Sharma on Thursday, informed the latter about the problems faced by contractors. Sharma assured FCAN of finding a solution to their problems. FCAN has been demanding the government withdraw the decision to grant Rs 60 lakh worth construction works to consumer committee. — HNS
20,000 jobs lost
NEW DELHI: Global meltdown has forced about 20,000 Indians to return home after losing jobs abroad, the government said. Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi said between 16,000 to 20,000 Indians have come back to India after economic slowdown forced companies across the world to downsize. — HNS
