Eight-J’s mantra
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Narahari Achraya on Saturday stressed on the need for launching a campaign of ‘eight Js’ to bring an economic revolution in the country. He explained that the eight Js were jal (water), jamin (land), jadibuti (herbs), jungle (forests), jara (roots), janawar (animals) and janashakti (public power). Acharya said this campaign should be taken to all villages under the programme of Eight Js Campaign. Campaign chairman Lok Krishna Bhattarai and international co-coordinator Durga Datta Paudel also expressed their views on the occasion. — RSS
PAF brings change
DHANGADHI: Poverty Alleviation Fund said at least 53,539 families have benefitted from the programmes that it has launched in seven districts of the far western development region. At a press conference organized here on Friday, PAF director Raju Babu Shrestha said the fund has invested Rs 870 million so far in programmes for income generation, community infrastructure development and capacity building. He said Dalits, Janajatis, women and backward people are involved in need assessment and programme management. The PAF programmes launched three years ago in the
region have been implemented in 185 VDCs of Darchula, Baitadi, Bajhang, Bajura, Achham, Doti and Dadeldhura. PAF is active in 25 districts of the country. — RSS
