Envoy urged
KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Friday urged German ambassador to Nepal, Verena Grafin Von Roedern, to increase bilateral business and economic relations between Nepal and Germany. According to a press statement, FNCCI also called for German investment in hydropower sector and restoring direct air links between the two countries. —HNS
RBB’s new role
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) will now be the managing body for the second higher studies project under World Bank Finance Fund. RBB has allotted scholarship amount to the students of Higher Secondary schools and campuses. According to a press statement, it will systematically distribute the scholarship amount from its 115 branch offices. Under the programme, around Rs 40,000 will be granted to Bachelor level students and Rs 16,000 to higher secondary students. — HNS
MoF project 2008
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance (MoF), for the moral, process-wise and working level development of the Finance Ministry and its concerning departments, announced its project 2008, effective from November 16. According to a press statement, after implementation there will be improvement in the work and people will get service on time. — HNS
Food aid from Japan
KATHMANDU: The gvernment of Japan provided 71,394 quintals of rice under grant food aid to Nepal. A press statement said the food aid recently arrived in Nepal through Birgunj. Nepal Food Corporation has a programme to supply 10 per cent in Kathmandu valley and 90 per cent in remote hilly and mountainous districts. Japan has provided more than 11,00,000 quintals of food grains to Nepal in the last 30 years. — HNS
