SBL online remittance

KATHMANDU: Siddhartha Bank Ltd (SBL) has started Siddhartharemit, an online facility for the Nepalis working abroad. In an alliance with the Islamic Exchange in Qatar, it has started service from Doha and Saniya branches. “In near future SBL is expanding the services to other places too,” said the bank. It has 10 branches and 209 authorised centres to remit, at present. — HNS

NRN charity hospital

KATHMANDU: On the eve of NRN Day 2008, president of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRN) Dr Upendra Mahato has announced construction of a charity hospital in memory of his late mother Phul Kumari Mahato in Karjanha VDC of Siraha district. The hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipments and various other facilities of test and analysis as well as staff quarters for doctors, nurses and technical personnel, said a press release. It is estimated that construction of the hospital facility will cost at least $1 million. Local youth will be given priority and proper training for the nursing and other jobs. — HNS

Oil falls below $92

SINGAPORE: Oil prices fell below $92 a barrel on Monday in Asia on fears a US-led financial crisis is spreading across the globe, exacerbating an economic slowdown that will cut crude demand. Light, sweet crude for November delivery was down to $91.92 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midday in Singapore. — AFP
