Civic revenue up

BHIMPHEDI: The Hetauda municipality in Makwanpur district collected Rs 213.782 million revenue under different headings. Officials of the municipality said that the collection was a significant rise as compared to the revenue collected in the past some years. It said that foreign grants received by the municipality also rose by nearly 70 per cent. Accounts officer of the municipality Shankar Upadhyay said that the civic body spent Rs 198.816 million adding that over 60 per cent of the amount was spent on development works. — RSS

160 new cooperatives

BHAKTAPUR: A total of 160 new cooperatives were registered in Bhaktapur district within the last fiscal year, making the total number of cooperatives in the district 333. The Bhaktapur division cooperatives office said of these 333 cooperatives, 39 are multi-purpose, 239 loan and savings, 108 dairy and 14 miscellaneous cooperatives. —RSS

Tour guide training

POKHARA: A trekking and tour guide training conducted by the regional chapter of Trekking Agents’ Association in Hemja of Kaski concluded on Saturday. A total of 117 persons including nine women took part in the 24-day training. Advisor to the association’s district chapter Tika Sapkota said tour guides who had experience in the field ranging from two to 25 years were coached about geography, plants, sanitation, altitude, mountains, trekking spots, hospitality, health and other aspects related to trekking. Trainees were also provided practical training on rock-climbing in Hemja. — RSS
