Cooperatives rapped

BAGLUNG: Division Cooperatives Office, Baglung, has taken action against 67 inactive cooperatives in Dhaulagiri zone. The office has issued a scrap list of these inactive cooperatives that are functioning since the last two years. The office said these cooperatives are put in the scrap list after they failed to submit details of their audit, name list of operators and annual general assembly. Office chief Bishnu Prasad Subedi said these cooperatives will be annulled if they do not supply their details within the next 35 days.

Fertiliser imported

BIRATNAGAR: Agriculture Input Corporation, Biratnagar, has said it has already acquired 12,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer for the wheat crop. The corporation said the fertilizer was brought from Jordan with government grants. It said 400 tonnes of DAP have been allocated for distribution in Morang and the rest will be delivered to other districts. The corporation said 12,000 tonnes of urea will arrive within a few days, of which 600 tonnes will be distributed in Morang. The corporation has fixed Rs 1,421 for a 50-kg sack of DAP and Rs 683 for a 50-kg sack of urea.

Kamaiyas suffer

NEPALGUNJ: Freed Kamaiyas in different camps in Banke district are suffering due to severe cold for the last some days. They are forced to live under the open sky after the authority concerned delayed providing them timber for house construction. Freed Kamaiyas complained that they have not got the timber yet though they were given only Rs 8,000 for house construction. Seven months ago, the government had promised to provide 35 cubic feet timber to each family of freed kamaiyas as part of their resettlement. However, District Forest Office said that no decision was taken to provide the timber.
