NIC Bank’s profit rises

KATHMANDU: NIC Bank Ltd has announced that it made a record growth of 69 per cent in net profit to Rs 121 million during the first half of the current fiscal 2007-08. The bank’s lending increased by 33 per cent to Rs 10.7 billion, while its non-performing loans dropped to a mere 0.8 per cent, which is amongst the best in the industry, claims a bank press release issued here today. The bank plans open five more branches within this fiscal year, including three in western and far western regions. —HNS

KATHMANDU: Bazaar Dot Com Pvt Ltd has come up with a yearly review on the state of economy through a book ‘Arthik Barsha Pustak’. The book contains annual review of economic activities for the fiscal year 2006-07 and first quarter of the current fiscal. Import of vehicles up

BIRGUNJ: Import of light vehicles during the first half of the current fiscal year has gone up by 90 per cent, according to Birgunj Customs Office. According to data, 2,759 light vehicles worth Rs 1,403.75 million were imported through the customs during the period. A total of 1,551 vehicles worth Rs 782.33 million had been imported within the same period of the last fiscal.
