GBL posts profit
KATHMANDU: Global Bank Ltd (GBL) has posted Rs 32.8 million operating profit during the first half of the current fiscal year 2007-08. The bank mobilised deposits of over Rs 4.39 billion and disbursed loans and advances of over Rs 3.93 billion during the period. “It made the profits from interests of loans, fees, commission, foreign exchange and other banking activities,” states a press note. It had posted Rs 19.51 million operating profit in first quarter. — HNS
Handicraft expo
KATHMANDU: Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FOHAN) is organising a handicraft expo-cum-sales event at the premises of Tridevi Temple in Thamel from February 14-17. Various handicrafts, clay crafts, wooden crafts and other products will be put on display and sale through more than 25 stalls. The fair aims to promote Nepali handicrafts among Nepali buyers as well as foreigners. The event expects to draw more than 15,000 visitors in four days and turnover of Rs 2.5 million. — HNS
Agriculture fair begins
BIRATNAGAR: An agricultural fair began at Katahari of Morang from Wednesday. The fair will be helpful to exchange information among farmers about the agriculture products. The three-day long fair was organised by 11 village development committees of the district. Four hundred farmers from 35 village development committees have put their products on display. — RSS
