GBL to issue Visa card:

KATHMANDU: Global Bank Ltd (GBL) has acquired the membership of Visa International through Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. This membership has enabled the bank to issue Visa debit and credit cards, states a bank press release here. GBL is the ninth commercial bank out of the total 20 banks in Nepal to acquire the membership of Visa. The bank now plans to issue Visa debit and credit cards by October this year, which will enable its accountholders to pay through cards in Nepal as well as in any foreign countries. — HNS

HETAUDA: There is an increasing wave of opening new industries in Hetauda Industrial District (HID) after the restorarion of peace and democratic government. Five industries have applied at HID to make available land to them. The five new industries to be opened are on stone, gravel and concrete factory, Brothers John and John Paints, Surya Paints, Asian Rubber and Gorkha Lahari Cigarette. Construction of the buildings of six other industries is in the final stage and expected to start production from October. Some 44 industries are running in HID. Some 16 industries are closed for the past some years for lack of financial resources and raw materials. —RSS
