BA acquires aircraft
KATHMANDU: Buddha Air (BA), Nepal’s leading domestic airline, has acquired a new aircraft - Beech 1900 D, making its total fleet strength to seven aircraft. Buddha Air has been flying with all Beech 1900 C & D aircrafts on nine different routes. The airline began its operation on October 11, 1997 with an aircraft in two sectors. With the addition of this new aircraft, BA plans to increase frequency and fly to more destinations, states a press here today. — HNS
SEBO approves IPO
KATHMANDU: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBO) today approved the initial public offering (IPO) worth Rs 20,000,000 of Birat Laxmi Development Bank, Biratnagar. The board gave nod to float 200,000 units of ordinary shares with a face value of Rs 100 each through this IPO. NIDC Capital Markets Ltd has been appointed as the issue and sales manager for the IPO, states a SEBO press release here. — HNS
Dr Pokharel on tour
KATHMANDU: Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel, vice-chairman of National Planning Commission (NPC) left here on Thursday for Alma Ata in Kazakhstan to take part in the 63rd Convention of UN-ESCAP to be held from May 17-23. There is a programme to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of ESCAP to be participated in by countries of Asia and the Pacific Region. The meeting will discuss on poverty alleviation, globalisation management, social issues and problems of the least developed and land-locked countries as well as ESCAP reforms, states a NPC press release. Accompanying Dr Pokhrel are NPC secretariat secretary Dr Swoyambhu Man Amatya and officials of foreign and finance ministries and NPC Secretariat. — HNS
