India inflation eases

NEW DELHI: India’s inflation rate eased slightly to 6.39 per cent, according to official data published here on Thursday, but remained far above the central bank’s tolerance level. The rate fell to 6.39 per cent for the week ended on March 24 on the back of a fall in some

food prices from 6.46 per cent, where it had been stuck for the previous three weeks. The inflation rate stood at 4.06 per cent a year earlier. — AFP
