Nirola acting chief
Kathmandu: Nepal Tourism Board executive committee appointed Subhash Nirola as officiating chief executive officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) effective from March 1, 2007. A new CEO would be appointed through an open competition within two months. Nirola has been working as the director of tourism products and resources development for the last seven years. According to an NTB release, Nirola has been appointed the officiating CEO on the basis of being the senior most director.— HNS
B’desh, China ties
DHAKA: Bangladesh has proposed a road link to China via Myanmar to promote trade and tourism as well as duty-free access of its goods in the Chinese market. President Iajuddin Ahmed mooted the idea while meeting outgoing Chinese ambassador Chai Xi on Thursday, the New Age newspaper said. Bangladesh has an adverse trade balance with China and proposed that China could import quality leather goods, garments and melamine at very competitive prices.—HNS
