Employees’ concern
KATHMANDU: Financial Institution Employees Union of Nepal (FIEUN) has raised concerns over Nepal Rasta Bank’s move to sell its 34.95 per cent share from Eastern Rural Development Bank. Issuing a press release, FIEUN stated that the central bank’s ownership in regional rural development banks should not be transferred to private parties, but rather they should be given to institutions involved in micro-credit operations. It has also stated that NRB’s equity from these banks should be diluted after consultations with concerned stakeholders especially poor borrowers and micro-enterprises. —HNS
