Accord on TEVT policy

KATHMANDU: Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Skill for Employment Project of Nepal and Asian Development Bank have provided Rs 7.77 million (Swiss Francs 132,000) to formulate and elaborate the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVT)sub-sector policy. Genevieve Federspiel, deputy country director of SDC, Nepal and Chandra Bhakta Nakarmi, officiating administrative chief of CTEVT, signed an agreement to this effect recently. The goal of the policy is to re-engineer the TEVT system to serve the needs of the country, commercial interests of employers and employability of individuals by making it accessible, affordable for all, states a press release issued today. — HNS

STM in western hills

KATHMANDU: STM Telecom has been able to provide basic telephone services in 530 village development committees (VDCs) under the World Bank supported rural telecommunication project in the eastern hill districts. Started some three years ago, STM has now been allowed to expand its services in western districts, too, states a company press release issued today. —HNS
