PGBB plans revamp

Biratnagar: Purbanchal Gramin Bikash Bank (PGBB) is planning a major restructuring to make its service more people-oriented. Speaking at its 14th AGM in Biratnagar on Saturday, Shyamdev Yogi, executive director said that services of the bank would be improved from January 15. The bank has been providing loan to the poor people without deposit in the eastern development region for 14 years. Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri, chairman of the management committee, on the occasion promised that the bank would make its service more people-oriented by diversifying its loan portfolio. — HNS

Tourist arrivals up

KAKARBHITTA: Tourist arrivals have been increased from the Kakarbhitta entry point of eastern Nepal in comparison to the previous year. According to the statistics provided by the Immigration Office at Kakarbhitta, the number has increased to 16, 361 in 2006 from 15,892 in 2005. It has collected Rs 4,034,250 revenue in 2005, however, it collected Rs 4,263,750 in 2006. Tourists from USA, China, Japan, Bangladesh, Germany, Korea, and France visited Nepal from this point. — RSS
