Samsung LCD sales up

KATHMANDU: South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co claimed the world’s top spot in sales and revenue for its liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs in the third quarter. In unit terms, Samsung accounted for 13.2 per cent of all the LCD TVs sold worldwide during the July-September period, with its revenue making up 15.6 per cent of the global total, followed by Sharp Corp. The two bumped off Philips Electronics, whose share fell to Number 3 from the top spot the previous quarter. LCD TVs made up 24 per cent of the world’s TV market in unit terms, up from 22 per cent in the previous quarter. — HNS

Festive lucky draw

KATHMANDU: Samsung Electronics announced lucky winner of festive offer held for ‘Jai Nepal’ movie viewers during Dashain and Tihar. Coupons were collected, from the movie viewers at Jai Nepal for two months, for the lucky draw. Three lucky winners were chosen from the lucky draw at Jai Nepal Hall on Saturday. Bishal Po-udyal, Dillibazaar won the first prize of Samsung Colour TV, Shailaza Bista, Koteshwor won the second prize of Samsung DVD and the third prize Samsung Vacuum cleaner was won by Krishna Raj Neupane, Thamel. Seema Golchha, director at Golchha Organisation and Nakim Uddin, cha-irman of Quest Entertainment announced the lucky winners. — HNS

Mustang apple hit

BAGLUNG: Apple farmers of Mustang, a district beyond the Himalayas, are worried due to lack of market. The markets of Mustangi apple are Baglung, Pokhara, Parbat and Myagdi. However, the buyers are bound to eat Indian and Chinese apples because of the insufficient ferrying of the fruit grown in the Himalayan district. — RSS
