Handicraft exports fall :

BIRATANAGAR: Eastern Development Region exported various handicrafts worth Rs 13 million in the fiscal year 2005-06 to 18 different countries. This amount is said to be lesser by Rs 1.8 million compared to the previous fiscal year. In 2004-05, handcrafts worth Rs 13.6 million were exported to 14 countries. According to Trade Promotion Centre, US has turned out to be the biggest market for Nepali handicrafts in the fiscal year 2005-06 followed by France, Japan, the UK, Italy, Canada, Chili, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Bhutan, Netherlands, Taiwan, Austria, Australia, Singapore and Venezuela. — RSS

Herbs exports rise :

Biratnagar: Herbs worth Rs 179,600,600 was exported to overseas from eastern region during the fiscal year 062-63. Chiraito worth Rs 648,267, Majitho worth Rs 47,985, Chop-chini worth Rs 14,322, Jatamasi worth Rs 217,861, Bhotekosh worth Rs 17,903 and Bisjara worth Rs 21,785 were exported to Bangladesh and Harro and Barro worth Rs.828,477 were exported to Switzerland. — RSS
