StanChart donation :

KATHMANDU: Standard Chartered Bank Ltd has donated Rs 500,001 to the victims of recent floods and landslides, which is being deposited at the Prime minister Disaster Relief Fund. Sujit Mundul, CEO of the bank handed over a cheque to the chief secretary of the government at Singh Durbar on Tuesday, states a press release. The bank also donated some relief materials such as rice, pulse, salt and clothes which were handed over by the bank staff to the Nepal Redcross Society, central offic. — HNS

NATO shows concerns :

KATHMANDU: Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) has shown concerns over the unreasonable demands of political parties and labour unions in the tourism industry and has asked the government to address these difficulties, states a press release. Hotels are ready to close down if unreasonable demand persists said hoteliers. The industry shows conce-rns over the issue of bandhs in Pokh-ara, regular tax strike at the airport that is hampering the tariff. Industrial output up :

NEW DELHI: India’s industrial production picked up sharply in July, growing by 12.4 per cent year-on-year on the back of a strong manufacturing sector after a revised gain of nine per cent in June. Manufacturing, which accounts for more than three quarters of industrial output, rose by 13.3 per cent in July. — AFP
