Hero announces Xtreme winners

KATHMANDU: Nepal General Marketing, the authorised distributor of Hero MotoCorp Ltd, has announced the winners of ‘Xtreme Holiday Package’ to Pokhara, from among the customers who entered the draw by purchasing the all-new Hero Xtreme Sports motorcycle. The 10 winners are Jiwanlal Shrestha, Amrit Suvedi, Sohan Shah, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Bal Bahadur Baduwal, Santosh Kumar Ghimire, Pradip Kumar Joshi, Kiran Niraula, Sushil Kumar Shrestha and Brihasar Urwara Saving and Credit Co-operative, as per a press release issued on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU: Nabil Bank’s staff members distributed galvanised corrugated sheets, mosquito nets and solar torch lights to earthquake victims of Dolakha on Monday. To meet the urgent shelter demands, the employees of Nabil Bank arranged the said construction material to build 205 temporary homes for people who lost their homes in the earthquake, as per a press statement issued on Tuesday. Nabil Bank’s staff collected the funds from their salary and distributed one bundle of corrugated sheets, two mosquito nets, and one solar light to each of the 205 families in Sunakhani VDC Ward No 3.

PARIS: French Prime Minister Manuel Valls wants to allow employers to extend short-term job contracts, as the government gradually loosens labour restrictions in a bid to fight persistently high unemployment. Generous protections on long-term contracts have discouraged hiring and foreign investment. Under Valls’ proposals, which need parliamentary approval, employers could extend temporary contracts twice. The total time on such a contract couldn’t exceed 18 months.

HSBC to cut jobs

HONG KONG/LONDON: HSBC pledged a new era of higher dividends on Tuesday, laying out plans to slash nearly one in five jobs and shrink its investment bank by a third to combat sluggish growth. CEO Stuart Gulliver has made it his mission to boost profits since taking the helm of Europe’s largest bank by assets in 2011.
