Brand watch : New products from Goldkist

Goldkist International (S) Pte Ltd has unveiled a new series of latest technology products entitled ‘seven technology wonders’ in Nepal.

The new products, which will be showcased at CAN InfoTech 2005, include O2 Xda IIs PDA phone, O2 Xda II mini, Sony Ericsson P910i, Bluetooth virtual keyboard, Aigo U watch, i-Stick and Bluetooth PowBox.

H D Gupta, managing director of Goldkist International, announced the launching of the products in Nepal for the first time. He also informed that Goldkist would showcase and retail all the products through ‘mobile2’, a state-of-the-art lifestyle showroom having high-end mobile computing products like PDA phones, high-tech gadgets, MP3 players and plasma TVs. Gupta also announced that Goldkist would provide scholarships to 10 financially poor, talented Nepali students from the upcoming session.

Of the launched products, O2 Xda II includes enhancements to the integrated PDA and mobile handset. Aimed at the profession users, O2 Xda IIs is based with the Windows MobileTM and addition of a 39-key slide-out keyboard enables the customers to use the device more easily for applications such as email, MMS, contacts, calendar, texting and editing using Microsoft tools.

The O2 Xda IIs has been rated as the ‘Best PDA Phone of Year by CNBC’ review and comes as significant improvements over the O2 Xda series with built-in wireless LAN, quad-band antenna and multimedia player with capacity to store up to two DVD films, said Gupta.

The other product is O2 Xda II mini also features a 13-mega-pixel camera and video-recorder. “The O2 Xda II mini is a full function PDA, a trendy mobile phone, a digital camera and an MP3 player,” he informed.

The world’s first Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard (BTVKB) is yet another product that Goldkist has unveiled today. Manufactured by i.Tech Dynamic Ltd, BTVKB is a smart and pocket-size device that projects a full-size keyboard onto a flat surface and connects to a variety of PDAs, mobile phones, laptops as well as personal computers.

The aigo U-watch not only tells time, plays music but also enables users to transfer data to and from their computers, said Gupta, adding that the U-watch is available in 128MB, 256MB or 512MB models, capable of storing over 50 songs.

i.Tech Bluetooth PowBox is a mobile communication-cum-audio entertainment device that allows one to answer, listen to MP3 songs, tune in to FM radio, record voice notes, as well as transfer files through a Bluetooth mobile handsets.

Goldkist International is a Singapore-based company with an annual turnover of $40 million and engaged in distribution of mobile phone and IT products since 1993. The company is the distributor of O2, Sony Ericsson, Lexmark, Aigo and Itech. Goldkist International distributes all these products through Ocean Computers in Nepal.
