Brand watch : Yamaha unveils Superbike YZF-R1
Kathmandu, June 16:
Morang Auto Works (MAW), the sole distributor of Yamaha motorcycles in Nepal, is being launched Superbike -Yamaha YZF-R1 for the Nepal market on Tuesday.
R1 is the superlative engineering innovation in two-wheel segment, claims the company. Priced at Rs 1.55 million, the Superbike — the first of its kind — is powered by a 1000cc liquid cooled in-line four-cylinder engine. The race track innovation like use of Yamaha chip controlled throttle (YCC-T) and Yamaha chip controlled-intake air funnels (YCC-I) offer better
controllability, while linear horsepower enhances man-machine interaction in the R1.
Slipper-type back torque-limiting clutch greatly facilitates braking and downshifting from higher speed. Dual 310mm front discs, radial mount forged six piston calipers and rear 220mm disc with single piston caliper, generate a strong braking power that a bike like R1 requires. With the wheelbase of 1415mm and dry weight of 177 kg, the bike comes fitted with fuel tank capacity of 18 litres. The Yamaha-R1, which boasts six-speed gearbox with triangulated shaft layout for great strength, compactness and quicker acceleration, reaches a top speed of 300 km/h.
Cool headlights provide great illumination and distinctive style while the LED taillight is light, bright and efficient, according to the company.
