KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 24

Nepal's private carrier Buddha Air is set to restart direct flights between Kathmandu and Kolkata from October 19 (Kartik 2), becoming the only Nepali airline to operate on the route.

The service will run three times a week-Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday-using ATR-72 aircraft. Flights will depart Kathmandu at 7:00 a.m. and return from Kolkata at 9:20 a.m. local time, with a flight duration of about one hour and 35 minutes. One-way fares start at Rs 13,353.

Buddha Holidays, the airline's sister company, will offer tour packages that include visits to Jagannath Puri, Sundarbans and Gangasagar for Nepali travelers, along with outbound trips to Indian religious and cultural sites and inbound holiday packages for Indian tourists visiting Nepal.

Buddha Air currently operates more than six dozen domestic flights daily and flies internationally to Varanasi three times a week. The Kathmandu–Kolkata service, first launched in April 2019, was suspended in December 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
