Business sector protests against blockades

Kathmandu, March 13:

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) alongwith some other leading chambers of commerces, has protested the forthcoming blockade beginning March 14 to be held for an indefinite period stating that it would send economy into further turmoil.

The press statement issued by CNI has demanded with concerned people to withdraw the blockade.

A press statement has mentioned that the economic sector has already been affected to a great extent due to blockades, bandhs and chakkajam held from time to time.

Moreover, the load-shedding started by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has also sent the business sector tumbling. Currently, the supply management system of business enterprises has hit a snag, affecting consumers at larger, says the statement.

Many a number of enterprises have already downed their shutters. CNI, Federation of Nepalese Cottage, Small and Industries (FNCSI), Federation of Nepal Industrial Estate (FNIE), Hetauda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) and Rupendehi Chamber of Commerce

and Industries (RCCI) have jointly protested and issued the statement.

Such frequent shutdown of industries has hit not only the national economy and business community but also to the labourers and thousands of employees and their families, who are dependent on industries for livelihood.
