KATHMANDU, APRIL 19

The 27th edition of CAN Info-Tech fair has been postponed.

The organiser, CAN Federation, has postponed CAN Info-Tech until further notice citing coronavirus infection has been increasing significantly in many areas, including Kathmandu valley, recently.

The meeting of CAN Federation held on Sunday decided to postpone the 27th edition of CAN Info-Tech, informed Narayan Thapa, general secretary of the federation.

The CAN Federation was preparing to begin CAN Info-Tech 2021 at Bhrikuti Mandap from May 11. Even prior to this, owing to the COV- ID-19 pandemic, the federation had postponed the event to May, which used to be held around January or February in the previous years.

The information technology exhibition gives a platform for various national and international information and communication technology companies to showcase new products, technologies as well as an opportunity to expand their business. Similarly, visitors are also able to observe and purchase new gadgets and equipment under one roof.

The federation has been organising CAN Info-Tech since 1995 that also offers a platform for interaction and market promotion activities between IT professionals and users.

"Looking at the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the big cities, including Kathmandu, we have decided to postpone the exhibition this year," Thapa said, adding, "If the situation normalises in the near future, we will announce the event dates soon."

The exhibition attracts more than 100,000 visitors during the event period. Thus, the federation decided to postpone the event considering the health safety of the participants and visitors, Thapa added.
