CAN Softech on June 18-21

Kathmandu, April 21:

Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) is organising the second edition of Nepal Software Expo — CAN Softech-2008 — on June 18-21, in Kathmandu with a view of promoting Nepal’s software and computer related industry.

The four-day long event will be held at Direction Exhibition & Convention Centre (DECC) at the United World Trade Centre (UWTC) in Tripureshwar.

The expo will feature national and international development in software, out sourcing,

BPO, computer solutions, e-governance, web design and other related industries as well as services.

Inspired by an overwhelming success of CAN InfoTech shows for the past 14 years, the

CAN Softech is now being organised annually to meet expectations of people in

software and related sector, said Amrit Bahadur Thapa, second-vice president of CAN and event coordinator.

“It will also serve as a platform to highlight Nepal’s strength in software development, BPO and IT solutions,”

he said, adding that the event will add new dimension in CAN’s slogan of making ‘New Nepal — an e-Nepal’ by promoting ICT tools for overall development activities.

Over five dozens different companies will showcase their products and services through 64 stalls during the event.

The event is coincided with three other events including the Global Knowledge Partnership South Asian Regional Meeting on June 18-19, ‘Swabhiman 2065’ Conference by FIT Nepal on June 29-20 and ITS Nepali is organising South Asian Students and Young Professionals ICT Conference 2008 on June 21-22.

The participants of these events will also get chance to have a first hand information on Nepal’s endeavours in the field of software development, ICT services, and BPO, Thapa added.

ASOCIO, WITSA, ministry of environment, science and technology, High Level Commission for IT, National IT Centre and other government and private institutions have supported the event.
