Carphone Warehouse reports sales growth

LONDON: The Carphone Warehouse Group, the British mobile phone retailer and Internet provider, reported sales growth for its second quarter on Thursday.

Carphone said in a trading update that sales were up at both its broadband TalkTalk Group and retail business Best Buy Europe.

In the last two years the group has reshaped its business, spinning off its mobile phone retail offering into a joint venture with US electronics group Best Buy and building a fixed line broadband business, Talk Talk.

Carphone is in the process of splitting its two units -- a move which "is progressing at pace", it said Thursday.

Carphone has in turn become Britain's largest residential broadband provider after recently buying the British assets of Italian telecommunications group Tiscali.

"Both TalkTalk Group and Best Buy Europe are continuing to trade well," Carphone chief executive Charles Dunstone said in a statement on Thursday.

Carphone meanwhile reiterated its full-year guidance for 10 percent growth in earnings per share.
