Case to be filed against Dugar tomorrow

Kathmandu, September 15

The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, has said that it will file a case against Dugar Group at court on Sunday morning on charge of selling sub-standard products.

“Though we were supposed to file a case to this effect against Dugar today, we were unable to do so due to some technical reasons. We will file the case on Sunday,” said Bel Pandey, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.

An inspection carried out by the police and the District Administration Office, Kathmandu earlier had found Dugar’s factory in Satungal using date-expired mango pulp, an ingredient used to produce Frooti, a popular fruit juice. The inspection team had destroyed 400 containers of mango pulp — each container containing 223 kg of mango pulp.

DSP Pandey informed that a case will be filed against 10 officials of the company under the Black-marketing and Some Other Social Offences and Punishment Act. “While four top officials of Dugar are under police custody, six are still at large,” he informed.
