KATHMANDU: Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi on Friday inspected the under-construction Integrated Agricultural Wholesale Market in Biratnagar of Morang district.

The Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade under the Ministry of Agricultural Development is constructing the market.

During the inspection, Subedi said the large scale projects including PACT helped Nepal commercialise agriculture.

Meanwhile, Subedi also directed the concerned authorities as well as the contractor to complete the construction works on time.

In response, PACT Director Govinda Prasad Sharma assured that the market would be constructed before the deadline.

Earlier in November last year, Minister for Agricultural Development Gauri Shankar Chaudhary had laid the foundation stone for the market.

The government has acquired four bigaha land of the local Katahari Secondary School on a lease for next 50 years.

The school, the District Agricultural Development Office, the Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan City, the District Development Committee and the Local Market Consumer Committee have signed a five-side agreement for construction of the market.
