KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 7
The Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line has been officially commissioned today.
Spanning 28 kilometers, the transmission line stretches from the Chilime Substation at Thambuchet in Amachodingmo Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, to the Trishuli Substation at Pahrebensi in Kispang Rural Municipality, Nuwakot.
This transmission line will facilitate the transfer of electricity generated by hydropower projects built and under construction on the Trishuli River and its tributaries into the national grid. It is designed to transmit approximately 1,200 megawatts of electricity.
The Chilime-Trishuli project was completed with investments from the Government of Nepal, a grant from the German Development Bank (KfW), and a concessional loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
A total of 76 towers have been constructed along the 28-kilometer stretch, with the transmission line being built at altitudes ranging from 680 to 2,600 meters above sea level.
