Chitwan festival from January 9

An eight-day long Chitwan Festival-2061 is being organised in Narayangarh, Chitwan from January 9 to January 16 to promote indigenous products and local tourism.

The Industrial fair will be one of the biggest so far in the country with a participation of all major sectors. “Even foreign participants are taking part in the event. And over 200,000 visitors are expected to visit the fair,” said Madan Lal Joshi, coordinator of the event, at a pre-event press meet, held in the capital today. The fair will be jointly organised by Narayangarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Chitwan District Development Committee, Ratnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bharatpur and Ratnanagar Municipalities.

The fair will focus on promoting agro-products, tourism and information technology in Chitwan district. Besides various national and international industrial products, the festival will also feature indigenous art and culture, literature and educational activities and many more throughout the event, said Joshi, who is also the president of Narayangarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the festival on January 9. The total estimated budget for the event is Rs 4.7 million. There will be over 390 stalls, according to Kalyan Tamrakar, co-coordinator of the event.
