Cliff bees’ honey exported
MYAGDI: Honey produced by cliff bees in Myagdi district has been exported to South Korea. From the honeycombs of wild bees on steep cliffs of Mudi, Lilang and Gurja VDCs people harvest some 3,000 tonnes of honey each year in the district. A local honey trader, Pahal Man Pun said that the demand in South Korea for the cliff bees’ honey is very high as this honey is used as a medicine there. Regular consumption of this honey strengthens the physically weak and tones up digestion. Pun said they exported honey worth Rs 800,000 to South Korea this year. The district Agricultural Development Office, said Myagdi produces honey worth Rs 3 million annually.
