CNI holds interaction

KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has said that to upgrade the country to a middle-income nation by 2030 the government should implement investment friendly revenue policy.

It has mentioned that expansion of tax net is necessary for the country at present.

“The government should expand the tax net and reduce the tax rate,” said Hari Bhakta Sharma, president of CNI, at an interaction programme held by CNI, in Kathmandu, on Sunday.

He also urged the government to introduce policies that support production and exports. Sharma added that taxpayers have been demoralised due to unnecessary hassles at the tax offices.

“The government should introduce an integrated tax policy, which will support the taxpayers.”

On the occasion, Revenue Secretary of Ministry of Finance, Shishir Kumar Dhungana, assured the private sector that the government is ready to create a taxpayer friendly environment. He also urged importers to use the formal channel for foreign trade rather than informal ways.
