Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized that the construction of major infrastructure projects is a top priority for the government.
Addressing the 16th National Convention of Nepal Engineers' Association (NEA), he asserted that modern development should focus primarily on the infrastructure sector.
"The key to economic development lies in completing major projects in roadways, highways, energy, electricity, communication, airports, irrigation, drinking water, and sewerage within the designated timeframe through quality construction," stated PM Dahal.
He highlighted the urgency of completing large projects on time to reap their benefits, noting that delays in infrastructure construction hinder overall national development and economic prosperity.
PM Dahal expressed concern about the escalating costs of development projects due to unnecessary disputes and challenges, emphasizing the need for timely completion.
The Prime Minister mentioned the government's commitment to prioritize projects such as the 10,800-megawatt capacity Karnali Chisapani Hydropower Project and the 400-Kv transmission line project.
He urged utilizing knowledge and skills efficiently to achieve results on time, emphasizing the importance of overcoming difficulties in the development and construction processes.
PM Dahal affirmed the government's positive stance on establishing the Engineers Staff College for enhancing the capacity, professional development, and progress of engineers. He also highlighted the government's efforts in corruption control, good governance, and addressing economic challenges during his first year of his third term as Prime Minister.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, emphasized the role of infrastructure development in the nation's progress, urging responsible and motivated work.
He called for cooperation to formulate urgent policies, plans, and guidelines for nation-building.
Urban Development Minister Sita Gurung stressed the coordinating role of engineering services in enhancing the effectiveness of development efforts. She urged engineers to address citizen concerns regarding the civic-friendliness of infrastructure developments.
