KATHMANDU, JANUARY 17

Despite a 12.10-point dip in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), marking a 0.55% decrease and settling at 2,163.60 points by the end of today's trading, the intra-day turnover soared to nearly Rs 10 billion on Wednesday. The NEPSE index had recorded a substantial gain of 54.54 points.

In the face of the index downturn, today's impressive turnover reached Rs 9.768 billion, building on the momentum from Tuesday's surge of Rs 8.083 billion. This heightened activity was fueled by the exchange of 33,525,702 units of shares across 300 companies in 210,471 transactions.

Parallel to the benchmark index, the sensitive index, representing class 'A' stocks, experienced a 0.28% decline, while the float index, reflecting actively traded shares, recorded a 0.49% drop.

Among the sub-indices, only banking, development bank, microfinance, and other indices reported gains, with the finance and hydropower indices leading the losers with declines of 3.51% and 2.80%, respectively.

The total market capitalization for today was recorded at Rs 3.397 trillion.
